A former cage-fighter has appeared in magistrates’ court accused of punching a girl twice in the jaw.

Christopher Rainey, 38, of Martindale Avenue, Fleetwood, pleaded not guilty to assault at Fleetwood in January 4.

The prosecution opposed an application for bail for Rainey by defence lawyer Patrick Nelligan.

Rainey was granted bail to February 16 for trial by District Judge Jeff Brailsford, who was sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

He must not contact the alleged victim or enter Grange Road, Fleetwood and report daily to police as conditions of his bail, he was told by the judge.
