On February 11, we went to see GCSE Science Live! in Manchester.

The visit gave us an insight into what it’s like opting for a science-based career and how our lives in the future revolve around developments in scientific research.

We met five different scientists who shared their own personal experience, ranging from Helen Czerski, a bubble physicist who went on an expedition to the Arctic, to a medical doctor, Robert Winston, who specialises in human fertility.

Throughout the day we also had lectures from a GCSE science examiner Stewart Chenery.

These helped us understand what is expected of us in exams from a professional view and gave us expert tips on how the best way to revise is effectively, ensuring our greatest possible results.

Overall, the day helped the Year 11 students in deciding whether science is a career they would like to pursue as well as gaining some helpful exam approaches.

It also allowed the Year 10s to prepare how to revise for their next year learning GCSEs and what to look out for in their upcoming mocks.
