ASTRONAUTS, aviation pioneers and Tomb Raider star Lara Croft ensured lessons at Thornton Primary School were especially lively!
Pupils followed in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus, adventurous founder of America, during a special explorers week as they got to know more about the world.
Youngsters and teaching staff got into the spirit of things by dressing up as these stars of world travel.
Tracey Barnes, teaching assistant at the Heys Street school, said: “This year’s themed lesson week was explorers.
“Through a creative curriculum the children learned all about them in their daily lessons.
“Each year group chose a different type of exploration, including under the sea, African safari, South American adventure, Tudor explorers and Space exploration.
“The children learned a lot.
“The week’s work culminated in a special assembly where each class showed the other children what they had been learning about.
“The assembly consisted of poems, songs, art work and lots of new and exciting information that the children had discovered.
“We had quite a few Lara Crofts, it was a lot of fun.”
