Daniel inspires £1.3k charity bike booster

Nearly 200 motorbikes and superbikes took part in the second annual Lytham to Whitby Coast to Coast Ride in aid of the Tuberous Sclerosis Association.

The riders, who rode in convoy the 164 miles to the Yorkshire coast, were inspired by 24-year-old Daniel Scott, who has Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.

This rare condition is a multisystem genetic disease which causes benign tumors to grow in the brain and on other vital organs such as the kidneys, heart, eyes, lungs, and skin.

Symptoms - and the severity of the illness - may vary and includes seizures, intellectual disability, developmental delay, behavioral problems, skin abnormalities, and lung and kidney disease.

Daniel, who is the son of Fleetwood biker Brian Scott and wife Lorraine, was diagnosed with the rare genetic condition from birth.

Unfortunately, a seizure when he was still a baby left him badly impaired and he is not able to walk, talk, or feed himself and is totally dependent on round-the-clock care and support from former 
joiner Brian, and mum Lorraine.

Brian, who is a keen member of the Northwest Motorcycle and Bikers Club, said: “Daniel’s case is quite severe and he needs constant care. Obviously this is a very rare condition and apart from raising money for the Association, we are also hoping to 
raise awareness of the condition.”

Brian, of Curtis Drive, Fleetwood, who also has a 22 year old son, Ryan, said: “We’d just like to thank everyone who helped raise the funds.”

The ride, co-organised by the sales manager at Honda Blackpool, Simon Carter, raised a total of £1,328.
