A man blamed his son missing school on his former girlfriend describing her as “bone idle”.
Connor Clarkson, 21, of Belmont Road, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to failing to ensure a child’s regular attendance at school.
My former partner lives a bit of an out of control lifestyle. She is bone idle and finds it hard to get up in the morning
He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Janet Etherington, prosecuting for Lancashire County Council’s Education Department, said between November last year and March this year, the boy attended 199 times out of a possible 264 occasions.
Clarkson told magistrates that he started work at 5am and could not leave to ensure his son went to school.
He said: “My former partner lives a bit of an out of control lifestyle. She is bone idle and finds it hard to get up in the morning.”
