Two dogs are dead and two others are fighting for their lives after being ‘poisoned’ in Over Wyre.

The labradors were taken to the vets in “considerable pain” by their Preesall-based owner and had to be put to sleep, police say.

Two others are now being treated with at least one of them critically ill.

Police, who believe the dogs were poisoned around the early hours of Sunday June 15, are now hunting those responsible.

PC Dave Kerfoot said; “We are interested in speaking to anyone that may have been in the Lancaster Road/ Cartgate area of Preesall around that time. We are very interested to know if any vehicles were seen in and around that area.

“This is clearly a very distressing incident and one that we are taking very seriously.

“Sadly, two labrador dogs have had to be euthanised while two more are fighting for their lives, one of which we really hope survives but fear the worse.”

Police said the dogs had been poisoned by an “easily obtained product”.
