Three thugs who attacked a couple and then tried to force them to withdraw their complaints to the police have been jailed for a total of 35 months.
Preston Crown Court heard stepbrothers Jamie Finney and Daniel Cunningham, along with their friend Ryan Murray-Land, even drove their victims to Blackpool Police Station in a bid to try and keep them quiet.
But prosecutors said even the gang’s attempt to offer them £500 failed to have the desired effect.
The court heard the female victim had visited the North Ocean Hotel, on the Promenade and had accidentally left her handbag containing her passport.
The following day when she contacted the hotel and spoke to Finney, 27, who was working as the manager, he admitted finding the bag but refused to give it back.
After several conversations Finney, of Kilmory Way, Blackpool, agreed to return the passport if the woman came to collect it.
Later that evening she visited the hotel with her boyfriend.
Prosecutors said after the couple had retrieved the passport, Daniel Cunningham, 23, from Fleetwood, ran up to the boyfriend and began attacking him.
Prosecutors said he was punched “so hard” he broke his jaw and he carried on attacking him as he lay on the floor.
The woman was also pushed to the floor by Finney as she tried to stop the attack.
The victims went on to report the attack to the police.
Ryan Murray-Land, 24, of Central Drive, Blackpool attended the police station with the couple on several occasions to try and force them to withdraw their complaint.
He was jailed for seven months for perverting the course of justice.
Cunningham, of Wyre View, Fleetwood was jailed for 16 months for section 20 assault and perverting the course of justice.
Finney was jailed for 12 months for assault, witness intimidation and producing cannabis.
