Fleetwood Weekly News readers voted in their thousands to find Fleetwood’s best scarecrow for this year’s big scarecrow festival.
And the clear winner this year was – No.8, Shakespeare Primary School’s ‘Petal’ scarecrow.
The summer flower scarecrow was a worthy winner, and children at the Manor Road school should be proud of their efforts.
The two-week festival saw scarecrows popping up all over town and certainly captured the imagination of the community.
It coincided with Tram Sunday and the scarecrows were left in position to enhance the town’s entry in Britain in Bloom.
Festival organisers Shaun MacNeill and Sophie Wells said: “We were very impressed with the quality of lots of the entries. In particular Harbour Lights ‘Puppet Show’ mini scarecrows, ‘The Pirate Ship’ at Larkholme Lodge and of course ‘The Gypsy Caravan’.
We are really pleased that lots of people have voted and we are hoping people will feel inspired to get stuffing again next year.
“There were also some lovely ones along Amounderness Way, as well as smaller family entries too.

The presentation of the festival cup will be arranged soon.
