About 2am they argued and she smashed a glass against a table and struck her partner in the face with it.

He suffered a minor cut above his eye which did not need medical treatment.

When interviewed Williams said she had lost it. She said her partner drank every day and had told her he once woke up in bed with another woman. This had formed part of their argument.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had no previous convictions. Williams was adamant she had not smashed the glass before she struck her partner with it. She said she had realised her partner was an alcoholic and he had abused and controlled her.

She was fined £200 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
