Mother-of-one Kathryn Thorley‘s car hit another vehicle and narrowly avoided hitting two pedestrians – one a child – at the Marton Mere site .

Thorley, 41, admitted driving her Honda Jazz car on April 14 while above the alcohol limit. A breath test revealed she had a count of 147 – the legal limit is 35.

Blackpool Magistrates gave her a one year community order.

She must undertake 20 days rehabilitation and 140 hours unpaid work for the community. She was banned from driving for two years.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said security staff at the site alerted police to Thorley after complaints about her driving by other holidaymaker. Thorley, from Bury, who had been drinking gin and tonics at her caravan during the afternoon, used her car to travel to the main gates to pick up a relative.

The prosecutor added: “This was a very high reading. When police questioned her she maintained the other car had hit her vehicle but that was not correct.”
