A pensioner was caught driving with excess alcohol after police were tipped off.
Stephen Turner, 70, of Fernwood Avenue, Thornton, pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
Adrian Hollamby, prosecuting, said police stopped Turner as he drove a VW Golf on Pinewood Avenue on October 11 at 2pm. A breath test showed 50 microgrammes of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.
Hugh Pond, defending, said his client, a former Blackpool Council worker, who had no previous convictions, had drunk the night before stopping about 1am.
Turner had driven just 100 yards from his home when he was pulled up by police.
Turner was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £150 court charge with £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
