Commissioner unveils £2.3m spending plan

Police and crime commissioner Clive Grunshaw has announced a £2.3m spending plan to cut crime, protect vulnerable people and support victims across the Fylde coast.

Initiatives working to reduce youth offending and substance misuse are among those to get a share of £2.3m over the next 12 months. The money, allocated for community safety and partnership funding, will also support data sharing between Lancashire Police and partners to monitor performance and understand crime trends.

Blackpool will receive £91,000.

£5,000 will be given to AFC Fylde’s Community Reintegration Programme to help tackle re-offending by working to reintegrate criminals back into the community, while £45,000 will be awarded to Blackpool Council to provide a community safety officer and support a number of projects to reduce crime.

Mr Grunshaw said: “This money will support police in the fight against crime and some of Lancashire’s most vulnerable people.

“Providing funding for initiatives right across Lancashire is one of the ways I am keeping Lancashire safe and delivering on my priorities.

“That is why I fought against Government cuts that would have dramatically reduced the amount we can spend on these services and I am delighted to be able to keep funding at the same level as last year.”
