A builder went behind the bar and punched a pub landlord after he and his friends had been asked to leave.

David Vaughan was then seized by a posse of irate customers and ejected from The Travellers Rest in Cleveleys.

Vaughan, 24, of Birchwood Drive, Hambleton, pleaded guilty to assaulting Kenneth Pickering.

He was sentenced to a four-month curfew from 8pm to 6am and ordered to pay his victim £100 compensation by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said after an incident in the toilets Vaughan and his group were asked to leave on September 12 at 10.45pm.

Vaughan, who had been drinking, came back in and punched the landlord in the mouth, cutting his lip.
