Blackpool man accused of 'holding girlfriend prisoner' for almost five years

A Blackpool man stands accused of holding his girlfriend prisoner for almost five years by locking her indoors every night.

Michael Cooper, 48, of Bute Avenue, North Shore is charged with committing coercive and controlling behaviour in an intimate family relationship between December 2015 and June last year at addresses in Poulton and Fleetwood.

He had his case sent to Preston Crown Court, where he is due to appear on Wednesday, May 12.

Cooper was granted bail.
