Joshua Finley, 19, drunk and disorderly

Sandwich shop staff had to call police because they wanted to close but couldn’t wake up a drunk customer who was fast asleep.

Teenager, Joshua Finley, was arrested after police went to Subway, Talbot Road, Blackpool, and he told officers to shut up when they tried to talk to him.

Finley, a 19-year-old hygiene operative, of Furze Avenue, Carlisle, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and failing to attend court.

He was sentenced to an eight weeks curfew from 8pm to 7am and ordered to pay £85 costs with £85 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Malcolm Isherwood, said police were asked to go to Subway on October 29, where a man appeared unconscious.

He had been there for hours but staff could not wake him and wanted to close.

Police tried to raise Finley up but he kept swearing at them.

Peter Cave, defending, told magistrates Finley had said his elder brother had recently started a life sentence for an offence of murder. Finley had become depressed and was on medication.

At the time Finley had been drinking too much but he had now curbed his alcohol intake. He was ashamed of his behaviour in Subway.

Lucas Debrowski, 25, criminal damage and possession of cannabis

A man kicked in the front door at an address he was living at in Blackpool after it was bolted shut.

Lucas Debrowski, a 25-year-old delivery driver, of Great Western Road, Gloucester, pleaded guilty to causing £200 of damage and possession of cannabis.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Debrowski damaged the door on September 11 and had cannabis on him when he was apprehended.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had been staying at an address in Beresford Street, North Shore, at the time. He came home after drinking, found the door locked and kicked it in frustration.

Debrowski had his case adjourned for reports and will be sentenced at a later date by Blackpool magistrates.

Georgia Joyce, 22, criminal damage

A woman battered her former boyfriend’s car with a hammer in revenge for him leaving her in debt.

Georgia Joyce saw red after her ex left her with rent and council tax arrears.

Joyce, a 22-year-old health care worker, of Adelaide Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to causing damage.

She was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £75 compensation with £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Malcolm Isherwood, said a witness saw Joyce in Abbotts Walk, Fleetwood, on November 6, hitting her ex’s Vauxhall Corsa with a hammer. The ex said repairs to the car would cost £1,000.

Joyce, who had lived with her ex for three years previously, said she had thrown the hammer in a bin and police recovered it.

John McLaren, defending, said Joyce’s ex had taken the Corsa she had bought him for £400, plus any items he wanted from their home after they split up.

He had left her with rent and council tax arrears. The bailiffs had been put onto her and her ex had refused to pay his share of the debts.

The last straw was when he sent her a message saying “happy times paying the bills.” She snapped and damaged his car.

James Allen, 29, theft

A shoplifter has been jailed after striking at the same store three times.

James Allen, 29, stole a total of £38 of perfume from TK Maxx’s Squires Gate store.

Allen, who has been living rough in Blackpool, admitted the offences.

Blackpool Magistrate heard that Allen was on licence from prison and was to be recalled behind bars.

Magistrates added further 21 days to his sentence for his latest theft matters.

Richard Smith, 30, breach of the peace

A man lay in the middle of the road on Blackpool Promenade threatening to harm himself after he had argued with his girlfriend.

Richard Smith, 30, of Summergate Street, Halifax, pleaded guilty to breach of the peace and was bound over in the sum of £200 for 12 months by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police were called to the resort’s Bedford Hotel where Smith was staying with his girlfriend on November 20 about 10.30pm

The couple had rowed and Smith had gone onto the Prom and laid down in the middle of the road.

Martha Savage, 27, possession of cannabis

A mother was found with drugs in her purse when police arrested her.

Martha Savage, 27, of St Annes Road East, St Annes, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.

She was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Malcolm Isherwood, said cannabis was found in Savage’s purse on March 21.

Phillip Whittle, 36, assault

A father to five children punched and slapped his partner after they had collected the kids from school.

Phillip Whittle, who had drunk four pints, lost his temper after his girlfriend spent time talking to a friend in the street.

Whittle, 36, of Barton Avenue, Blackpool, denied assault but was found guilty of the offence after a trial.

He was sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 20 days rehabilitation to be supervised by the probation service and fined £100 with £150 costs plus £85 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Malcolm Isherwood, said Whittle and his partner were on the way to collect the children from their school when she stopped to talk to a friend in the street on September 14 at 2.30pm.

When they returned home Whittle said he was unhappy because she had been talking to the friend a long time. He grabbed her head and punched her to the side of the 
face.

Keith Harley, 53, indecent images of children

A man has made his first court appearance charged with possessing over 34,000 indecent images of children. Keith Harley, 53, was sent for trial at Preston Crown Court by magistrates sitting at Blackpool.

He was bailed until he appears at the higher court on December 21.

Harley, of Teviot Avenue, Fleetwood, was bailed on condition he has no unsupervised contact with children aged under 18 years old.
