FLEETFEST has been saved!
Last week the Weekly News reported how a charity music festival for two brave Fleetwood girls might have to be cancelled after a setback over the venue.
And as a direct result of our article, the festival has been saved and will now be held at Fleetwood Cricket Club on Sunday May 13.
Tentative agreements had been made to stage the event at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury stadium but the club’s successful season meant that it was unlikely the ground would be free for the event.
Organiser Claire Weaver, a student nurse said: “As far as I can say at the moment it will be at the Cricket Club, although we are looking at the Marine Hall too.
“We have had a really good response, it has been great.
“So far we’ve someone who’s offered to do the lighting, music and sound, but we desperately need a stage!
“So if anyone could help with that or a donation towards one, it would be really helpful.
“Also a marquee would be a help just in case the weather is bad.
“The bands are all confirmed, there will be zumba and bouncy castles, food. All sorts of things going on.
“If anyone has any good ideas or can think of anything to boost the day, please let us know.”
The event is being held to raise funds for Leah Garfitt and Molly Robinson who are both battling illness.
