Coun Ruth Duffy, the Wyre Labour leader, has called in the plans to get them looked at again.

It has led to the proposals, which would see a charge of £2 per child for every two hours, to be discussed at Wyre’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee at 6pm today. The session is being held in the Members’ Lounge at Wyre Civic Centre, in order to accommodate more members of the public.

Coun Duffy, who also represents Fleetwood’s Mount ward, said: “It is clear that people in Fleetwood are unhappy about the charges and that is why we have called it in.”

But Coun Peter Gibson, the leader of Wyre Council, warns that such action will delay the opening of the Marine Splash on May 2.
