A hairdresser is hoping to be proved a cut above the rest after she got through to the finals of a top national competition.
Rebecca Jayne Turner, of Thornton, has been chosen as a finalist in the British Hair and Beauty Awards for 2015.
I was told last week that I was one of the ones that had the most votes and that I was through to the finals
The former St Aidans and Blackpool and the Fylde College student was put forward for the competition and won through the first round after an online vote from customers.
Now she is up against some of the biggest names in the country.
Rebeccca said: “I was told last week that I was one of the ones that had the most votes and that I was through to the finals.
“I was so shocked! The names I am up against are huge.
“I have been working on putting my portfolio together since then.
“To have even got this far is a huge achievement and I’m feeling proud of my work and efforts and also very grateful to all my clients, family and friends for their support.”
Rebecca Jayne works as a mobile hairdresser right across the Fylde as well as working on several specialist national projects as a freelancer and working in her mother’s salon part time in Cleveleys.
She added: “I am studying a BA Hons degree with Open University in Business so I can have improve my knowledge and expand my business in years to come.
“This competition entry is very exciting.
“It is the biggest competition in the country, thousands of people apply.
“In my category, Hairdresser of the Year, there are six names in the final.
“The judges do not agree on a winner as a group but instead score independently using pre-defined criteria. They submit their final scores to the organising team, who then total up all the scores from all the judges. The finalist with the highest collective score wins.”
