As part of a rally called ‘Benidorm or Bust’ Mark Chapman, 46, Martin Wilson, 42, Craig Wilson, 45, and Cahal Loose, 49 are setting off on a 1.400 mile driving challenge to the Spanish resort.

The event will take place over four fun-filled days driving from Dover to Tours via Le Mans, Biarritz, Madrid and then the final leg to Benidorm for the Charity Prize Giving.

The four will be dressed as traditional seasiders sporting knotted hankies on their heads and socks and sandals, complete with orange braces to match their bright orange and white striped car, which is covered with pictures of saucy seaside postcards.

Mark Chapman said: “We got involved as a challenge for the new year. We are all a bit nervous about getting there as the car cost us £500, but it should be a lot of fun.

“The charity we picked was unanimous among the group, as the good work they do and the support they receive from the local Fylde coast population, shows all that is good about the town and its people.”

But it’s not all gruelling driving – the friends will join in a party in Benidorm.
