A man has today been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a baby girl in Fleetwood.
The 30-year-old man was arrested this morning at an address in Fleetwood and is currently in custody.
A 29-year-old woman was also arrested this morning at an address in Thornton on suspicion of causing/allowing the death of a child. She is also in custody.
Police were called by the North West Ambulance Service at around 6.30am on Friday March 11 after a report that a baby was in a serious condition.
Court documents have the incident address as Gordon Road, however police logs say the incident took place in Warren Street.
The two-month-old baby girl, Daisy Mae Burrill, was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital having suffered a suspected cardiac arrest. She was later transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital and died on Monday, March 14.
Police have only just released the information.
A Home Office post mortem examination revealed she had died from a head injury.
The man and woman were initially arrested on suspicion of Section 18 – wounding with intent and were bailed pending further enquiries but have now been arrested on suspicion of the new offences following Daisy Mae’s death.
