FLEETWOOD’S dreams of a new £15m fish processing village are moving ahead after location plans were approved.
Wyre Council’s planning committee has approved proposals to change the use of land between Amounderness Way and Copse Road from industrial to a fish and food processing park.
The current land uses are a garage, electrical contractors depot, a plastering and rendering firm, a sheet metal company and trawler supplies. There is also an area of undeveloped vacant land where former buildings have been demolished. Plans will now be submitted to the Government office for the North West of England and, if given the go-ahead, a 12,500 sq metre site could be used for fish and food processing. Also proposed are an auction hall, visitor centre, waste and recycling facilities.
