How arctic temperatures brought a White Christmas to the Fylde ten years ago

Ten years ago Lancashire was transformed into a winter wonderland after heavy snow fell across the county

Temperatures dropped to -16C as the county found itself shivering in the coldest December for years. The arctic blast dug deep and brought a rare white festive holiday. The snow stuck around for a couple of weeks and played havoc with the roads and railways, although for children it was a rare opportunity to dust down the sledges and relish in the snowy fun.
