World Travel Lounge already has two branches on the coast, on Victoria Road West in Cleveleys and on Birley Street in Blackpool town centre.

The Cleveleys outlet was the most recent to open, setting up two years ago, and has proved a success.

Now the company, which operates independently but has an arrangement with the larger Cooperative Travel Group similar to a franchise, is set for a third shop.

The Fleetwood shop is set to open at 117 Lord Street, in premises formerly occupied by Thomas Cook Travel, in the latter part of August.

World Travel Lounge managing director David McDonald, who lives in Fleetwood, says there are signs that Lord Street, which has gone through a long period of struggle, is starting to revive.

He said: “We are looking to expand and we see this as a good opportunity to move into an area which is beginning to show signs of resurgence.

“One or two new businesses have already opened in Fleetwood town centre and we understand there is other interest.”

World Travel employs 12 people and the new branch will bring two extra jobs.
