Despite the best efforts of Blackpool’s Eleanor Cardwell, England’s netball team lost their series with New Zealand after defeat in the second of their three-match schedule.

England went down 54-47 in Hamilton on Friday, having lost the opening match earlier this week.

Cardwell, the Bispham-based Manchester Thunder player, was England’s top scorer in the match with 19.

England had led 25-23 at half-time but New Zealand dominated after the break to set up their eventual victory.

They scored half-a-dozen points within five minutes of the restart to establish an advantage that was too great for the England team to overhaul.

The final match of the three-Test series takes place on Sunday morning.
