Sunny visit for war veteran
Andy McIntosh, from Strathaven, near Glasgow, is attempting to beat the record for the “fastest journey from John-O’Groats to Land’s End on an electric mobility vehicle” and raise money for several military charities.
The 42-year-old visited Wyre on day nine of his challenge, on the 70-mile stretch from Kendal to Southport. He rode along the A6 in Garstang.

“The scenery was fabulous. Though I am looking forward to now going through a few bigger towns to see more people. There’s been a lot of cows and sheep along the route so far!
“When I got to Southport, I met up with a trucker who I served with in the Cheshire regiment and has been following my progress. I ended that section the only way I could really – with fish and chips and an ice cream.
“The challenge is going really well so far, I’ve been lucky with the weather.”
