Pupils get into the festive spirit with tea dance
Dorothy Kirkman, 104, enjoyed nostalgia-inducing classics from gorgeous vintage singing trio The Bluebirds, pulled crackers with pupils, and tucked into a smorgasbord of sandwiches and mince pies.
She was one of 80 people attending South Shore Academy in St Annes Road from nearby care homes for a Christmas Tea Dance late last week.

Hide AdThe second annual event, which saw around 15 Year 11 prefects compereing, dishing up food, acting as bingo callers, and dancing with their guests, was hailed a success by the school’s services co-ordinator.
David Milroy said: “It went really well. It was excellent. Supporting the community as well as being a school is something we are striving to do. It’s something we feel very strongly about.
“It wasn’t the normal school day for the students and they really enjoyed it.”
