The doors to the £12.5m Hamptons Care Centre, off Heyhouses Lane in St Annes, have been officially opened by the care home's first resident, Joan Wightman.

Having only just moved in a few days earlier, Joan, aged 92, who is from Lytham, was joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Fylde, John and Geraldine Singleton.

The Hamptons, which is a 76 bed care facility, has welcomed nine residents, with 20 further residents scheduled to move in this month.
