An investigation has been launched into a "suspicious" fire after a car was found burning in a field in Hardhorn, say fire services.

Crews were alerted to the fire just off Fairfield Road at around 1.30am on Tuesday, March 20.

Firefighters from Blackpool arrived at the scene to find a Vauxhall type car well alight.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "The vehicle had been abandoned in a field.

"We extinguished it using a hose real jet. Nobody was in the vicinity when we arrived.

"We are treating the fire as suspicious."

Nobody was injured during the incident.
