Court drops assault charge on ex-Blackpool FC striker Lee Thorpe after 'no evidence offered'

A former Blackpool FC footballer who was accused of assaulting two doormen at a popular resort nightclub has been cleared due to lack of evidence.

Blackpool magistrates court threw out the case against Lee Thorpe, 46, and co-accused Calum Holmes, 35, yesterday as ‘no evidence was provided’.

Thorpe, who started his 18-year professional career in Blackpool and finished at AFC Fylde in 2011, had been charged with assaulting two club doormen at theTrilogy bar on Talbot Road on July 31, 2021.
