Blackpool woman Kim Bailey to be jailed after sexually abusing young boy for 7 years

Kim Bailey (date of birth – August 19,1983) was accused of abusing the boy for seven years between 1999 and 2006 while living in her hometown of Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

Jurors at Gloucester Crown Court took one hour and 37 minutes to find Bailey guilty of 14 charges of gross indecency with a child; four charges of sexual activity with a child and two charges of indecent assault.

Prosecutor James Haskell said Bailey, now living in Blackpool, had sexually abused the victim – who is five years younger than her – from the start of his final year at primary school and for the next 6 to 7 years.

“The offending was conducted over a significant period of time," he said when the case was heard in Gloucester on Tuesday, April 25.

"The abuse started with Bailey getting the boy to touch her breasts when he was aged about 10. This evolved into him using his mouth. He describes it as being like breast feeding a baby.

"He then recalls things going from the breasts to lower down. She would pull down her trousers and force him to touch her genitals. He says he had to put his finger under her clothing multiple times.”

The jury was told that the victim was forced to participate in oral sex with Bailey and felt too scared to tell his mother what was going on.

The prosecutor added: “Bailey would touch the boy’s genitals and things progressed to what he calls ‘intimacy’ with sexual intercourse taking place.

"He thinks he was 13 or 14 when this started. Bailey would by then have been an adult. He added that over time this would increase in frequency.

"The abuse only stopped when his mother caught them at it."

The jury heard the victim did not report the abuse until July 2020 when he initially spoke to medical staff in hospital and then went to the police.

Pina Silvio, defending, told the jury that Bailey denied any sexual activity at all with the victim, stating that none of what was alleged had ever happened.

After the jury returned its guilty verdicts the judge, Recorder Malcolm Gibney, told Bailey he was ordering a probation service pre-sentence report so he could have fuller information about her.

But he told her that she could expect a lengthy prison sentence and he remanded her in custody until Friday, June 2.

NOTE: Gloucestershire Police were unable to provide a custody picture of Bailey because she was voluntarily interviewed and then charged by post, so her picture was never taken.
