Runner sets sights on two marathons in just one day
That’s the challenge Lytham runner Tony Howarth has set himself to complete this weekend.
Tony will run a total of 52.4 miles in one day.
The first marathon is part of the Virtual London Marathon as a representative of the Samaritans and the second is to raise funds for Save the Rhino.

“The first will be from Lytham to Fleetwood and back and the second will be a circuitous route around Lytham five times.
“I will be running a total of 52.4 miles in one day.
“The first marathon is part of the Virtual London Marathon as a representative of the Samaritans and I’ll be dressed as a mobile phone.
“The second marathon I will be dressed in an iconic rhinoceros suit running for ‘Save the Rhino’.

“I have run many marathons and ultra marathons but never attempted such a task in fancy dress.
“In particular the 20 pound rhino suit will be challenging.
“I am 61-years-old and unquestionably stupid!
“But I thought... why not give it a go!”
