In pictures: Scenes from Fleetwood's historical past
The pictures tell the stories from Fleetwood at a time when the port was enjoying its glory days. It was a bustling town, the fishing industry was thriving and people flocked there for their holidays. One photo shows the day a new miniature locomotive was unveiled on the promenade.
The railway was a key attractiion, right up the late 1970’s.

Hide AdThe photo was taken on April 3 1954 and the shiny new locomotive was called Sir Winston Churchill.
It was welcomed by crowds of people lining The Esplanade, can you spot anyone.
Fleetwood Orphanage and Children’s Home is also pictured as it had been sold. The orphanage was on The Esplanade and is now the Masonic Hall
