Pilates group steps forward to raise cash for Papyrus charity

Andrea Johnson, from Warton, turned to giving on-line pilates classes when the pandemic hit last year.
And to mark a year of going virtual, she held a week long celebration of online classes to raise money for Papyrus,a charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.

Hide AdIn a fun packed week, customers practised different pilates methods and took part in games to raise £356 for the charity.

“I feel so lucky to have such fantastic clients who have supported everything I have done over the past 12 months.
“Papyrus is a very worthy charity to support and I know they have been delighted with our donation”.
Prior to the first lockdown being introduced, Andrea ran classes in Lytham, Freckleton, Wesham and Warton.

Hide AdAndrea, who has been a pilates teacher for three years, added: “When the pandemic came we had to close and stream everything on Facebook; that’s where we have been for the last 12
months.
“It’s June 21 before exercise instructors can go back into a room to do face to face classes. But my customers have found it works well for them.
“They have saved some time from not commuting and classes are available on catch up. It’s been tough going but we are all in the same boat.
“We have kept each other going. Doing pilates is not just physical, it also brings a mental balance.”
