Blackpool will feature in new Channel 4 series about festive lights this December called Lighting Up Christmas

Christmas lights are big business in the UK, and few things embody festive spirit more than the magical turning on of festive illuminations. This year, the best lighting companies are pulling out all the stops to make Christmas 2022 brighter than ever.
What is the programme?
Lighting up Christmas features four key stories following the people behind the lights as they build and install ambitious and magnificent displays, culminating in a spectacular climax at the switch on for some of the best lighting displays in Britain.

Hide AdThe show follows top lighting teams as they work to design, decorate and unveil Britain’s most iconic and magnificent displays. Peeking behind the scenes of the UK’s most celebrated streets, shops, estates and attractions, we’ll find out what it really takes to light up Christmas.
How will Blackpool be shown?
Expect a positive ‘Best Of British’ story; a behind-the-scenes look at the local manufacturers that make the lights for the famous Blackpool Illuminations. In collaboration with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen the promenade is transformed, and the tower is illuminated in the most magical of displays.
What other towns will feature?
Blackpool will star along-side the Roald Dahl themed lights in Longleat, the magical winter trails at Kew Gardens, and the iconic store display at John Lewis on Oxford Street, London.
The air date is TBC but look out for Lighting Up Christmas on Channel 4 this December.
