THORNTON Little Theatre plays host to a lively musical extravaganza this Friday and Saturday.

The Proscenium Theatre Company are performing song and dance show, Razzle Dazzle ‘Em at 7.30pm each night.

With tunes described as show-stoppers, chart-toppers and clod-hoppers, there will be something for everyone!

Songs include Bruno Mars’ chart hit Just the Way You Are, and there will be a Les Miserables medley, a Carpenters medley and numbers from Chicago – including Razzle Dazzle ‘Em.

The theatre group was first put together by St Annes composer and music teacher Jim Thomas, to perform his musical, Jeanne D’Arc, based on the life of French heroine Joan of Arc.

The Little Theatre concert, and other fund-raisers, are being staged to raise money to take the showcase of this acclaimed musical to London in August.

Talented Jim, who also wrote a musical based on the novel Lorna Doone, told the Weekly News: “On August 30 we will be performing a few songs from Jeanne D’Arc, followed later by the full concert from the show, at the Dominion Theatre Studio, London.

“We will have a cast of 30, and a 12-piece orchestra.

“The idea is to get professional interest in the show, and it is exciting to have an opportunity like this.”

Jeanne D’Arc made its debut at the Grand Theatre back in May 1994, with one of Jim’s ex-music students, Joanna Riding, creating the role of Jeanne.

Joanna has since enjoyed a successful stage career in the West End, and has also appeared in numerous TV shows as well.

Tickets for the Thornton show cost £6 each, and are available on 07711 299381.
