A FLEETWOOD art student will experience life as a professional artist when her work is put on display at a top London art gallery.
Katie Hampson, a former Blackpool Sixth Form student, will have a piece of her work showcased at the 2012 Royal Society British Artists’ Exhibition next week.
The artwork, which is a stunning painting of a cow, was submitted by Fylde Decorative and Fine Arts Society after the piece was displayed during an exhibition at Booths gallery in Lytham earlier this year.
Katie, who is now studying Fine Art at Bolton University, said: “This is a dream come true.
“I am so honoured my work will be shown in this exhibition.
“I will be going down to London with my family and friends for the show and can’t wait to see my work in there with the others.”
Tim Freeman, head of Visual Arts at Blackpool Sixth Form College, said the accolade made students realise what can be achieved with a little effort.
He added: “It is a testament to Katie’s talent, hard work and dedication that she been selected over so many other artists.
“Nothing gives us more pleasure than seeing our students succeed and this is certainly an achievement.”
The RBA exhibition will take place at the Mall Galleries in London on Monday.
