A mum-of-two and former supermarket worker has realised a dream by launching her own shop.

Joanna Moore has opened Room 1, on Victoria Road East, Thornton, after grabbing an opportunity to take over the businesses from her friend Julie Adams.

She said: “The business has been going for about 11 years but I had the chance to take over and I decided to move it to Thornton from Cleveleys.

“We opened two weeks ago but we have already seen loads of new customers as well as the existing customers.

“It has been brilliant.

“The rent is much more reasonable here and the premises is bigger.

“Julie had the business and I used to work there helping out, but she had a baby and decided to sell and asked me if I wanted to buy.

“I have worked in retail for many years. I was a housewife for about five years and then I also worked at Morrisons as a cashier and on the customer services desk for three years.

“This is something I always wanted to do and it has been hard work but very enjoyable.

The former Poulton Hodgson High School pupil said she had given the new shop her own design touches and created a more vintage, boutique-style feel.

She said: “We stock everything from evening wear, casual wear and coats to shoes, boots jewellery and even candles. The opening day was great and now we are open six days a week.”
