THEY bring colour and fun to their local communities every summer, but the annual carnivals of Fleetwood, Thornton and Poulton need a little help this year.
Fleetwood Carnival takes place on Saturday June 20 and the committee wants people to enter floats and also local bands to join the procession, be it brass bands or rock groups.

Fleetwood Carnival treasurer Joanne Bennett said: “We need a bit of mu
sic so that the parade doesn’t just look lively, but sounds lively!”

To contact Joanne phone (01253) 681997.

Meanwhile, just down the road, Thornton Cleveleys Gala needs volunteers to help marshal road closures on Gala Day, Saturday June 13.

Help is needed between the times of 11am and 1pm, for approximately half an hour.

Gala chairman Debbie Franklin said: “Alternatively, can anyone spare an hour in the morning between 8am and 10am to help set up the stage and chairs on the Gala field?

“We also invite people to enter the fancy dress, decorated cycle, decorated pram and decorated float competitions. “Everyone entering gets a free ride ticket for Shaws fair, which is over for Gala weekend!”

Debbie is on (01253) 853025.

Volunteers are also needed for Poulton Gala Day on Saturday June 6.

After fancy dress judging at Wyre Civic Centre, Breck Road, at 11.30am the parade leaves the car park at 12.30pm and heads to Cottam Hall field for the rose queen crowning at 2pm.

Chairman Gordon Forrest said: “We would like to see more business floats in the procession, it’s a good, cheap way to advertise!”

To enter a float call (01253) 899521 or to volunteer as a marshall call (01253) 892965.
