AROUND £500,000 is set to be pumped into a new restaurant venture on Cleveleys seafront.
And it will also solve a four-year riddle over what to do with a prime site in the town.

The West Coast Rock Café, (pictured) currently based on Bispham Road in Cleveleys, will close at the end of this month, prior to moving to a site on Jubilee Leisure Park, immediately adjacent to the Vue Cinema on North Promenade,

The total cost of the project and the investment in the new site will be in the region of £450,000, says Blackpool councillor Robert Wynne, whose family have run the West Coast Rock Café franchise since the first restaurant of that name opened in Abingdon Street, Blackpool, in 1987.

The new West Coast would be four times the size of the current operation, he said.

Previous plans for the Jubilee Leisure Park premises, which have remained empty since being constructed in 2006, have included a health and fitness club, a bingo hall, ice rink and a bowling alley.

West Coast in Blackpool won the Restaurant of the Year award in the 2009 Blackpool Tourism Awards.

The second restaurant opened in Cleveleys in 2007, housed in what was formerly local entertainer Joey Blower's Sugar Sugar Bispham Road venue.

"This has been our best ever twelve months of trading and it's all down to our wonderful staff, management and, of course, our customers," said Mr Wynne.

"The opportunity to move to a brand-new purpose-built site, with great views over the sea, is really exciting."

Jubilee Leisure Park is owned by the Property Alliance Group Ltd.

Existing customers of the Cleveleys West Coast Rock Café are being offered a special deal if they dine at the Blackpool outlet until the new restaurant opens. Go to www.westcoastrock.co.uk for details.
