Parking bonus for motorists

MOTORISTS can benefit from a little known bonus when leaving their vehicles on car parks overnight.
Many evening visitors to Wyre's town centres already take advantage of free parking on the council-run car parks after 6pm, although they risk a fine if they haven't collected their car by the time the charges kick in again at 8am the next day.
Now parking chiefs are keen to point out a little-known bonus for those who prefer a lie-in after enjoying Wyre's pubs, restaurants and theatres.
Eugene Leal, Wyre's parking operations manager explained: "What many motorists don't realise is that by buying a two-hour pay and display ticket after 6pm, they can park until 10am the following morning as the tariff doesn't start until 8am.
"Holders of a residents permit can also benefit by setting their permit to 8am which will allow them to park free for two hours.
"This facility has always been available but feedback from a recent Local Area Forum and meetings with business people revealed that it is not widely-known about. It's just one of the ways people can use Wyre's car parks more effectively.
"We also hope it will prove an alternative to anyone tempted to drink and drive."
