A THORNTON Cleveleys man has died after a car hit a lamp-post in Blackpool.
Gary Maddocks, aged 44, was driving the Vauxhall Tigra when the accident happened.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene outside the Squirrel Hotel, on Bispham Road, North Shore.
Mr Maddocks was taken by ambulance to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at hospital.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Bispham Road was closed from Moore Park Avenue to Salmesbury Avenue as police cleared the scene.
