KIDDIES' Corner could be permanently back on Cleveleys seafront by next summer.
The popular children's fun fair made a brief return over the weekend when its boat and carousel rides were up-and running during the Cleveleys Jubilee Weekend celebrations.
Until it was dismantled to make way for multi-million revamp of the promenad
e, it had been based on the seafront for over half a century.
Now owners Albert and Michael Mason have put in a bid to Wyre Council for a license to permanently run the attraction once again.
Michael Mason said: "I think the town has suffered since Children's Corner disappeared. It used to be somewhere for a day out when the children would spend an hour on the rides, now people just come to the shops and go home again.
"It would be great for the children if we could put the rides back in."
Mr Mason is waiting to hear if Wyre Council has formally accepted his company's bid for the licence.
He added: "There is a plot standing empty and we are extremely hopeful it will be filled with a new Children's Corner by next summer."
David Thow, Wyre Council's Development Control Manager, said: "With the Jubilee festivities taking place in Cleveleys the council has allowed a limited number of rides to be operated on the proposed new Kiddies' Corner site for this weekend only.
"Regarding the long term project to re-site the Kiddies' Corner facility at this location, a formal planning application is currently being prepared by the council's Director of Neighbourhood Services, part of which will include conducting a noise impact assessment on the site."
