WHEN a Cleveleys-based dramatic society prepared to stage their latest production, they were facing an unusual challenge.
The Lancastrian Players needed to find a coffin for one of the scenes in the ghostly comedy 'Is Anbody There?' by Anne Knight.

Although they considered trying to get away without having a full-size, genuine coffin on stage, they realised it wasn't going to work.

It left them with the issue of trying to get hold of one.

Happily, they managed to get help from Cleveleys-based funeral directors TH Fenton, of Rossall Road, who are based just up the road from the Lancastrians' meeting place.

The funeral directors agreed to help and provided a full-sized casket.

A spokesman for the Lancastrians said: "It was good of them to help. Now our main challenge is trying to get it on and off the stage!"

A ghost, a seance and a money-grabbing sibling help to stir things up in the modern comedy, which begins its run on Friday night.

Things turn peculiar when senior citizen and ballroom dancer Maud gets up from the floor, having feinted. Or has she?

This wry comedy is full of colourful characters, with many twists and turns.

It is being performed at the Cleveleys United Reformed Church hall, Rossall Road, on Friday and Saturday, August 29 and 30, and again on Friday and Saturday, September 5 and 6, beginning each night at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £4 (£3 concession) and can be obtained on the door each night.
