FITNESS can be fun, as a series of new classes at the Frank Townend Centre, Cleveleys, is proving.

Each evening the centre encourages children and adults to get moving with something a little bit different. Hip youngsters will enjoy the street dancing sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays where modern urban music combines with some very fast moves to make for a highly aerobic activity.

On the same evenings, adults can work their way through the equally energetic salsa, merengue and mambo.

Martial arts also feature highly in the new programme with Taekwondo classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for adults and children over the age of six. These are run by fifth dan masters and sessions are grouped by level of ability. Kickboxing sessions, meanwhile, are held every Sunday afternoon from 3-4pm.

For an altogether slower pace, yoga is available every Wednesday evening.

Wally Mitchinson, Waterfront Development Manager for Wyre Borough Council, said: "These classes send out a clear message that there are lots of fun ways to get active. We want the Frank Townend Centre to be a venue that offers something for the whole community and the current programme certainly lives up to this."

Full details of all classes are available on 01253 863369.
