Gareth Evans has signed a new two-year contract with Fleetwood Town.
The 25-year-old midfielder made 16 appearances for the Highbury club last season, having moved from League Two rivals Rotherham on New Year’s Day, and scored his only goal in the win over Dagenham and Redbridge in March.
Evans said: “I’m delighted to finally put pen to paper after what seems a long process. It really is worth the wait because I already know what Fleetwood Town is all about.
“I really wanted to stay here and I’m glad I have the next two years here working under the manager. I’ve tasted League Two football with Fleetwood and it’s now time to make sure we go one better in terms of some results. The manager is going to put his own stamp on things and I’m pleased he has given me this opportunity.”
Evans is looking forward to reporting in for pre-season training on June 24, adding: “It’s not long before the first day and I want to be as ready as I can be. I’ve been busy the last few weeks with running and other work. I’m looking forward to seeing the lads and meeting the new players. It’s a time to knuckle down.”
