Blackpool legend Keith Southern has announced his retirement from football.
The 34-year-old was a key member of the Blackpool squad which won promotion to the Premier League.
He signed for Fleetwood Town before the start of last season but found his options limited - playing just a handful of games under Graham Alexander and eventually loaned out to Shrewsbury Town.
Southern is understood to have struggled with injuries this season and has not been seen at Town's Poolfoot Farm training ground since the start of the campaign.
The midfielder came to an agreement to leave Town by mutual consent.
Following an announcement from the club Southern turned to social media to reveal his decision.
