Sam Slocombe saved a Steven Schumacher penalty as Fleetwood Town were held by the league leaders.
Victory would have taken Fleetwood top but Graham Alexander’s men were forced to share the spoils despite dominating at Glanford Park.
David Ball and Stewart Murdoch missed good chances before the break.
And in the second half Fleetwood stepped up the pressure.
They were gifted the chance to grab all three points when Charlie Taylor tunbled in the box but Slocombe guessed right to foil Schumacher.
The Iron keeper was a busy man, getting his body in the way of an Antoni Sarcevic blast, the Iron showing real steel to prevent Town making it five wins from five.
The hosts’ best chance came after just nine minutes, Sam Winall’s blast tipped wide by Scott Davies.
Graham Alexander paid tribute to the efforts of his side who were playing their second game against top three opposition in just three days.
“There were a lot of tired legs, from both teams,” he admitted.
“The tempo of the game was amazing.
“They gave everything they had and there’s a few tired bodies and ice packs about the place.
“But if you want to be successful that’s what it takes, you have to leave everything out on the pitch and they did.”
Town remain two points behind The Iron with a game in hand.
They face York City at Highbury on Saturday.
