Proctor - Fleetwood have learned from Deepdale disaster

There’s only one motivation Fleetwood Town need when they face Preston North End this weekend - according to former Deepdale man Jamie Proctor.

The striker made an unhappy return to his home town in Fleetwood’s 3-2 defeat back in October.

Town showed their naivety in League One, throwing away a two-goal advantage as Joe Garner blasted a second half hat-trick.

Sunday’s clash is a huge game for both clubs, North End chasing automatic promotion and tenth-placed Fleetwood still with one eye on the play-offs.

Such facts are not lost onProctor.

He said: “It’s a big game for us and a big game for them.

“It’s a big one for the fans as well and everyone will be looking forward to it.

“The result was disappointing the last time we played them.

“We haven’t really spoken about the last game to be honest, but I’m sure it’ll be in the back of everyone’s minds.

“We played so well for the first 45 minutes and then to come away disappointed was not great.

“We’ll try and just focus on the game in hand really.”

Josh Morris, Nathan Pond and Tyler Forbes are all Preston-born members of the Fleetwood squad.

But Proctor wants to put such thoughts to the back of his mind for the clash, set to be screened live on Sky Sports.

He said: “There’s a few of us who are from Preston so it’s one of those which I’ll always look out for.

“It will be a little different but I’ll just try and treat it like any other game.

“I’ve played against them a couple of times now so it’ll just be another game.

“All the pressure will be on North End and everyone will be talking about them.

“We’ll need three points as well, and if we do pick them up then we’ll be in a really good position.”
