GOALS from Ryan Crowther and Junior Brown helped Fleetwood Town into the League Two playoff spots.

Crowther’s goal, just before the half hour came after the visitors dominated the early exchanges.

Conor McLaughlin found space down the left, feeding David Ball who picked out Crowther’ run from the left channel - the winger slotting low past Luke McCormick.

Oxford began the second half brightly but fell further behind ten minutes in - Brown stooping low to head home his ninth of the campaign.

The Us set up a grandstand finish when Liam Davis smashed the ball past Scott Davies from the edge of the box with a minute remaining - five minutes of injury time not enough for the hosts to complete their comeback.

Goal scorer Crowther spent the second half of the game being checked out by medics for a suspected concussion - Anthony Barry, Kieran Charnock and Mozesh Gyorio all coming on for the visitors.

Boss Graham Alexander insisted after the game Fleetwood would be paying no attention to the table - calling on his players to keep their feet on the ground and keep up the hard work which has seen them claim three wins from their last four games.

He said: “We knew we were going to be under threat, that they would test us and they certainly did.

“But the lads showed so much heart and showed what they wanted to achieve.

“They showed so much courage, it was fantastic to see.

“It wasn’t the perfect away performance, but it was a really good one.”
