MANAGER of the Year Micky Mellon is looking forward to landing another top prize today.

Fleetwood Town are poised to bolster their depleted striker ranks by confirming their latest signing this afternoon.

Having been crowned Blue Square Bet Premier manager of the year after taking Town up to the Football League as Conference champions, Mellon is ready to announce another major signing to follow last week’s capture of the former Northern Ireland midfielder Damien Johnson.

Faced with the departures of Jamie Vardy, Magno Vieira and Gareth Seddon, manager Mellon’s priority has been to scour the market for forward talent.

And regardless of his manoeuvres in the transfer market, the Town boss expects new signing Alex Titchiner to be pressing for a first-team team after his arrival from Witton Albion.

Mellon, who received his trophy at the Conference awards ceremony at Celtic Manor in Wales, said: “Titchiner will be a surprise package and pushing for a place up in the side.

“It won’t be too early to bring him in. Alex has electric pace, good movement and a knack of scoring goals.”

Titchiner’s former boss at Witton, Brian Pritchard said: “Alex will prove to be a massive asset to Fleetwood.”
